OUR 5 PILLARS OF ACTIVITY
We strive to see balance effort and growth in the following five areas of effort: Worship, Evangelism and Missions, Ministry, Fellowship, and Discipleship. Here we briefly describe each area.
“Worship” speaks of our expressions to God of our sense of His “worth-ship.” We do so together in Sunday Worship, but also in small groups and even alone in our times of worship of God one-on-one. The read and expounded scripture along with our praise of Him in music, song, and spoken word, are key elements of our worship. He alone is an audience of One for whom we do all these things.
Sharing the good news one-on-one is personal evangelism. When we go-out in our city, state, nation, or the world to share with others we call it “missions.” These two always involve sharing the gospel (good news) as found in the scripture. The goal is to see people come to know Christ as Savior and Lord.
Not to be confused with missions are those things we do for others, whether they are believers or non-believers. We do these things because the love of Christ compels us to do so. These may include such things as food assistance, housing the homeless, offering varied temporary helps, etc. Ministry often opens doors to evangelism.
Our church is a family. As such we are to love one another and share the many aspects of life. We spend time in our worship services, meal times, and various sharings in our small groups inside and outside our building. In all this we share our common loves and interests around Christ.
Jesus told us in the Great Commission to teach all the things that He has commanded. This is a major part of what we do in our various Bible classes, in Sunday Worship, and in special meetings for growth.
