Hi. I’m Corey. By God’s grace, I am the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, serving alongside incredible folks for the glory of God. We are a church who is in awe of God as He enfolds the good of His people into His plan of glorifying His Son Jesus. We bring the Kingdom of Jesus to bear in our lives, relationships, through the streets of Portsmouth and throughout the world. That’s what King Jesus taught us to pray toward (Matthew 6:10).
The people of Calvary Baptist are loving, growing, and serving.
Loving – Love, love modeled after Christ’s love, overcomes barriers. Calvary Baptist Church desires to reflect the multiethnic Kingdom of God on display in Revelation 7:9: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”
Growing – Jesus’ 12 disciples replicated the ministries the Lord gave them, and now the Church exists on every continent. While growing in relationship with the Lord, we are disciples who go and make disciples (who will go and make disciple makers). We are called to replicate our church, our Bible studies (6 to 15 people in size), and our “D-Groups” (3 to 5 people in size).
Serving – As Jesus came to serve; so, we serve. The folks of Calvary Baptist Church serve one another, and we serve the people of Portsmouth in tangible ways and through the power of prayer.
Join us on our “Discipleship Pathway.” Come be with us on Sunday mornings:
Get coffee and a snack with us on Sunday mornings at 9am. Join a Small Group Bible Study at 9:30am. Hear the VERY good gospel proclaimed, and sing God’s praise with us at 11am as the whole church meets together. Ask us about meeting weekly with two or three others to grow in becoming more like Christ through a “D-Group.” Our children’s and youth directors are honored to partner with parents in discipleship as well.
On behalf of Calvary Baptist Church and for the glory of God,
